A spectacular life-size bronze bust of William J. Roué was unveiled July 28, 2018, at the new home of the Lunenburg Library in the historic Lunenburg Academy. The bust sits at the entrance to the William J. Roué Study in the Library where inside the room there are drawings, descriptions, and artifacts relating to Roué and especially his most famous creation Bluenose, which was built in and sailed out of Lunenburg.

From Dartmouth, NS, William J. Roué spent many a day in Lunenburg inspecting construction of vessels built to his design and so it is fitting that this honour is bestowed upon him in the UNESCO World Heritage town.

The bust was unveiled by its sculptor Chippie Kennedy and Roué’s great-granddaughter Joan Roué during the grand opening ceremony of the relocation of the Lunenburg Library to the Lunenburg Academy. The William J. Roué Reading Room/Study first opened at the old site of the Lunenburg Library on May 3, 2002.
